On the evening of the 26 th of September, Yogoda Satsanga Dhyana Kendra, Bangalore, celebrated the Mahasamadhi of the great avatar Lahiri Mahasayaji. Lahiri Mahasaya is known as ‘Yogavatar’ of the modern world and is the parameshti guru of every Yogoda Kriya practioner.
Devotees assembled for honouring this great saint at 5 pm in the evening at the centre. As customary, the program began with the Hymn to Brahma, followed by the devotional chants from the Cosmic chants of Gurudev Paramahansa Yoganandaji. Devotees assembled then practised meditation for a period of half hour. This was followed by adetailed reading of various life instances of this great guru. Stories from the autobiography of a Yogi which described the great Guru healing people, his assisting the disciples in trifles, and also great miracles like rising people from the dead, were readout. This inspired all those who had gathered. The power and humility of this great guru who led a humble yet very simple life of a householder were recounted.
Post the reading session, another period of sublime meditation followed. At 7 pm, devotees began Bhajans for the Gurus, as the meditation session ended. All the devotees offered their prostrations at the altar where a beautifully garlanded large photograph of the Guru had been placed. After offering flowers, all the devotees proceeded towards Prasad and left for their respective homes with deep peace and calmness within themselves.
